Good (GREAT) Idea: Strawberry & Goat Cheese Crostini w/ Balsamic Drizzle

I am over the strawberry situation at the MCG.
I never thought I would say that, but it's just too much picking and bending for me (poor me), and they keep coming.

I froze some of the cakes and muffins, but if you don't eat them within 48 hours, they rot.

Here is a great idea for weekend crostini (and yes, I ate the bread, I eat bread galore on the weekends, as I said the other day).

The gorgeous loaf was baked by my friend Dan at Razza in Jersey City.

Take some good rustic bread and slice it. Toast it if it's a little stale and spread some chevre (goat's cheese) on top.

Slice some fresh, ripe strawberries and fan them on top.

Drizzle w/ that store bought balsamic syrup (whoever invented that stuff is a genius!).

This is like cheesecake on bread.

Amazing stuff.

Hey, I answered your email last week, but my message came back undelivered this weekend.

Tried resending it today.

This looks fabulous but I will save it for the week-end! I have 10 pounds to lose so I am going to try your diet -- it sounds fairly simple and still allows for my beloved bread on the week-ends!

BTW, I usually check in with Marie at Proud Italian Cooks via the link on your site when she does something new. However, the link on your side bar won't let me connect to her. Then I googled her on the internet and it said Internet Explorer could not connect. Sorry to bug you with this but I am wondering if there is something wrong with Marie's site. Thanks for any help you can provide!

OK, so next year I'm coming over to help pick those berries. I want this..now.
Oh I'm glad the link is working now. I checked myself and it seems ok. I've been gone most of the day. I made a quick steak salad for dinner but I need this yummy treat for dessert!

That looks great!
I hear you with the too much bending. What a great idea, strawberries and toast!

Have you made any strawberry shortcake? I have been researching different recipes but haven't made any yet.
