March Random Bites

March, in like a lion, out like a lamb. Bye bye.

There's a lot of potatoes in this bowl, with saffron aioli on the side. Too many spuds. I think we each ate only 2.

Had a great loaf of Pane Pugliese from Sullivan Street Bakery.
What to do with the stale leftover slices?
Make French toast, of course.

Pappardelle is all the rage, especially with some of my yummy leftover beef carbonade on top!

Product Review:
Annie Chun's Miso Soup w/ Noodles.

Ok, so I was sick with the flu and needed some quick nourishment.
Add hot water to this bowl of noodles, a dehydrated block of seaweed, and a bag of miso paste.
What are those little white squares? Tofu.

Would I eat this again?
Probably not.

That is a lot of potatoes but they looks so good. Bummer about the soup, I'm a fan of instant if you can find a good one.

Those potato's look good! You know, I try and try to find different ways to cook tofu, and I haven't found anything yet that really blows me over. For some reason I feel compelled to conquer the art of cooking tofu. That soup looks really good though! Feel better soon!

Don't you just love EVERYTHING at the Sullivan St. Bakery? the bread, the pizzas, the almond pound cake? I just made pappardelle last night for dinner - from scratch, and served it with a creamy porcini mushroom sauce. Your beef carbonade looks like a great topper too.

Yeeeeah. That product review soup doesn't look great. Hehe. Sorry it was a fail when you were sick and needed something good.

I always have this habit of making far too many potatoes for just the two of us, I don't know why. I'm curious about the saffron aioli though. Yum.

You sick, too? I've been out of commission for four days. I know what you mean. In desperation, I bought soup. It was nasty. I've had this soup. I think it's from Trader Joe's. It'll do in a pinch.

You can send the rest of the spuds to me. Love 'em, and they look fantastic.

The rest of your meals...wow, I could have used them. My hubby can't cook. I survived on eggs, oatmeal and cream of wheat.

Hope you're better now. I'm grilling turkey, as I blog.

Takes some hot chicken stock, throw your papadelle in it with some fresh parsley and a little grated cheese, great for what ails you! Now I want some french toast for breakfast tomarrow!

March did fly by! I am loving that French toast, it is my favorite breakfast treat.
This reminds me of a smililar tofu and miso soup I made a while back. I made a ton of it and ate it for lunch for two or three days in a row. Then one day I took it out of the office fridge, took a whiff, and said, "No way." I couldn't eat another bite of it. I tossed it in the trash and ate mircowave popcorn for lunch.

Hey, it's almost lunchtime . . . where is today's post to get me hungry?

By the way, do you know of any good recipes for breast of veal? I saw some beautiful cuts yesterday while shopping, but couldn't figure out what to do to it to warrant a purchase.
