NYC Bites: Il Buco Alimentari e Vineria

I like a lot of places in NYC, but this is my new fave.

It has everything we love about a restaurant.

It's Italian. It's Rustic. It's Casual. It's Affordable with great service.
And it's downtown.

New York Magazine & The New York Times just voted Il Buco as top 10 restaurants in NYC for 2012 (now we'll never get in), and I know why.

The new Il Buco Alimentaria & Vineria is a rustic Italian food and wine bar that serves fabulous food to hungry patrons seated at long farm tables on industrial seats.

They serve house made salumi along with in-house baked bread served with delicious olive oil.

There is also a small market and a cafe, selling unique Italian specialty products, along with fresh pastries and bakery items in the morning to go.

There are 2 floors and the place is jumping. Family style is the way to order.

We were treated to a wonderful evening and tried one of everything!

Fried artichokes; octopus; fried polenta; sausage on lentils; shaved Chioggia beets w/ fresh ricotta (my fave); brussels sprouts w/ bottarga............

Pastas: squid ink w/ bacala; spaghetti w/ almonds and anchovies (YUM); lasagnette w/ Bolognese sauce.............

For entrees, we had an amazing porchetta with kumquats; beef short ribs and roasted rabbit to die for;

Panna cotta for dessert drizzled with aged balsamico, the best ever.

Delicious affordable Italian wines by the bottle and by the glass.

Great place for families w/ kids or small groups of big kids, like us!

Can't wait to go back!

Amo Il Buco! xo

Happy Birthday Stacey! Looks like you had a great time at Il Buco. Loved the old place on Bond, but love the new place a block over even more!
