No recipe for Chinese New Year today.

I am speechless - well not really. One of my favorite gifts from my husband was he KitchenAid mixer he bought me 30 years ago - it's still going strong. (But I have to add I love the jewelry better.)

I still have my Cuisinart Food Processor that my son's father gave me 32 years ago. I could have sworn he'd give me "the ring", but this was my Christmas gift. The processor is still working well, but he's out of my life. Goes to show that a Cuisinart outlasts some marriages. :)

Funny but scary true. That's why I HATE Mad Men. Made it through 5 minutes of it. Lived it. Don't want to RElive it. And, did wear "Chubette" dresses from the Jewell Tea truck that came to our house in the 50ies! Ugh. I told an old boyfriend if he got me a frying pan for Christmas there had better be something from Victoria's Secret in it!

Henry gave me a La Machine food processor 26 yrs ago and it is still working fine (however, at the time I didn't think it was the most romantic gift!).

The life-cycle and vacuum sealer were probably the worst gifts he ever gave me when we were dating. We don't exchange presents anymore........I choose what I like now. :)

PS I like the idiot cola for babies ad. How stupid were we?

I don't know, but for me, anything that helps me with household chores is a wonderful gift. I don't have to pay the high prices and I still get up to date stuff. I would really like a dyson. : )

Some of these really are horrible, but the ones about household appliance gifts really do make sense if you think about it - in the 1950s, women didn't have the modern appliances we have, they had to do everything by hand! No electric mixers, food processors, dish washers, vacuum cleaners - my goodness houswork must have been hard! So I understand how a lady would like getting a gift that would make her life much easier...
