Weekend Eats in the Arctic

When it's 7 degrees outside (Fahrenheit), there aren't many activities that can drag me outdoors. Cross country skiing is out, because the bitter cold would whip me in the face and just taking a walk hurts the skin.

Basically, it's drink hot coffee in the a.m., drink hot chocolate in the afternoon and drink red wine in the evening, in between cooking, baking, eating and going to the movies.

We saw The Wrestler this weekend with Mickey Rourke. FANTASTIC movie. Loved it. He deserves to win an Oscar.

We had some amazing New Jersey pizza at Conte's Bar in Princeton. An old institution that hasn't changed its decor since the 50's. You have to order your pie while waiting in line. No menus, so know what you want. It's worth the wait and they sell package goods too...........

I did a little cooking, which will be posted this week, and had some great Greek food at Kefi in NYC, thanks to Peter from Kalofagas Greek Blog, who recommended this fantastic restaurant on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Made some spaghetti and meatballs for lunch, which were better than the cover of Gourmet (if I do say so myself, the paper cover tasted funny).

You can never go wrong with Conte's - or with spaghetti and meatballs. Will have to try Kefi's sometime.
That's a bunch of eating.
Those meatballs look yummy!

I'm glad you realized the paper cover wasn't edible - no matter how great it looked. Looks ain't everything.

Do you sneak in your own snacks when you go to the movies?

LOVE Conte's! My husband was busy eating pizza there the night I gave birth to my son and missed my epidural (although, if our roles were reversed, I would have opted for Conte's pizza over bearing witness to the epidural, too). Too bad I didn't know you and hubby were in the 'hood -- you could have come over for your evening red wine and dessert!
Eating, drinking and watching movies is all we seem to be doing around here as well. I love it when mother nature gives us a good excuse to have a do-nothing weekend like this!
At least you got out. I stayed in all weekend. The cold got the better of me.

The bowl of spaghetti looks delicious. I really want to see the movie "The Wrestler". I hear he's amazing and intense in it.

Thanks for the Kefi report and despite it's problems with being new, glad the food still rocks!

Thanks for the shout-out, Stacy Rocks should be the new blog name. ;)
